In honor of Prime Day this year, I’ve decided to share 5 of my favorite items that I have bought on Amazon and explain a little bit behind why I like each item.
If you know me personally, you know that I love to cook! I enjoy trying out new recipes and buying recipe books tends to be a weakness of mine since I get excited about cooking and tasting new types of foods! It only makes sense that my one of my favorite items would be a kitchen appliance.
I bought the Instant Pot on Prime Day in 2017 and use it very frequently. I don’t have a lot of room in my current home to store lots of kitchen gadgets so my favorite thing about the Instant Pot is that it has so many different functionalities. It can be used as a pressure cooker or slow cooker, you can make soup, chili, or rice in it or use it to sauté foods. Honestly I think the Instant Pot is a great investment, considering that it has so many features and is the fraction of the price of some appliances that only have one use. Speaking of the Instant Pot, here is one of my favorite cookbooks that has Instant Pot and slow cooker recipes.
Two of my other favorites from Amazon are directly related to two of my favorite hobbies – reading and writing. If you love to read or are interested in reading more often, I highly recommend getting a Kindle. It took me a little while to warm up to reading on a Kindle at first, instead of having a physical book in my hand, but its so much easier to read on-the-go with a Kindle. In a recent podcast episode that Adam and I released, (we have a podcast called Husband and Wife Talks FYI) we discussed why we don’t go to the library often and talked about reading in general. We recently discovered that through your local public library you can borrow e-Books (using an app called Libby) and can rent books on your Kindle without having to go to the library, so we are both excited about that!
Pictured above is my Kindle and an awesome book that I am currently reading – The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah.
The third item that I really like and use quite often is called a Rocketbook. The Rocketbook is a smart re-usable notebook. The pages have a faint dot grid on them, which is helpful for writing neatly or drawing any pictures/diagrams. The notebook comes with a specific pen that you need to use in the notebook (Pilot FriXion pens) and a microfiber cloth. I have found the pens at Target and I’m sure they are in most stores that carry office supplies. You use the pens that come with the notebook to write/draw in the notebook and then you can scan your notes into the Rocketbook app, which will send the notes to whatever location you choose (Google Drive, Email, as a text message, etc). For example, I have a few Google Drive folders where I organize various notes/ideas that I jot down in the notebook. After you scan your notes and confirm they got sent to where they were supposed to be sent to, you slightly dampen the microfiber cloth, wipe off the pages, dry the pages, and they are ready to be used again.
My fourth favorite from Amazon is a pair of leggings that are probably my favorite pair of “pants”. I know not everyone considers leggings to be pants, but these are by far one of my favorite bottoms and I have several pairs. Before I bought my first pair, I was looking for a pair of black leggings (that weren’t see-through!) that I could wear to workout, lounge around, or pair with a cute top as more of a casual outfit. I found these Baleaf Women’s Leggings on Amazon and now I LOVE them! They are a fraction of the price of many other leggings out there, especially from the higher-end brands, but they are so comfortable and the capri leggings have a 5.5 inch pocket that easily fits a phone.
The last item I recommend is touchpad light dimmers that we use on our nightstands. They are little discs that you can put on your nightstand and hook up to nearby lamps and just by touching the little disc you can turn off your lamp without having to get out of bed. I like that the touchpad has three levels of light, so you can adjust the light of your lamp to light, medium, or high just by tapping the touchpad. Its a small little gadget but honestly Adam and I both love them and use them every day.
